No less than 10 players who finished the 2015-2016 season with the Soo Eagles will be moving on from the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League team to start the 2016-2017 campaign at a higher level.

Five of the players have commitments to play at the National Collegiate Athletic Association level and five more have made teams in the North American Hockey League. The NAHL recently set a new record of its own for the number of Division 1, NCAA commitments in the past year.

At any rate, with half of the roster from last season’s team having been turned over, there will be positions up for grabs when the Eagles play host to their main tryout camp this Friday through Sunday at Big Bear Arena in the Michigan Soo.

That’s the word from Eagles co-coach/general manager Bruno Bragagnolo, who told HockeyNewsNorth.com that “we have a lot of spots available as we head into our main camp this weekend.”

Bragagnolo noted that there are still a few openings available for this weekend’s camp at a per-player cost of $125 U.S. or $140 Canadian funds.

For further information, contact Bragagnolo at 847-921-4543 or 906-259-0522.

Players can register via the Eagles website — sooeagles.net.

As for the number of players that the Eagles have moved on from last season’s team, Bragagnolo noted that, “It shows that not only are the Soo Eagles as an organization doing a good job of developing our players but so too is the NOJHL as a league proving that it is a very good place to play and to move up from.”
